What is Core Process Psychotherapy?

Core Process psychotherapy is a Buddhist influenced psychotherapy form developed at the Karuna Institute. Its fundamental premise is that awareness is inherently healing.

Much of clinical work is geared to initiate an enquiry, by both therapist and client, into the nature of our arising sense of self in the present. It is grounded in the perception that awareness is a wider universal principle which underlies all states of consciousness.

At the core of our being is a ground of universal intelligence which is never lost and becomes the heart of the therapeutic process. This is sometimes called 'Big Mind' in Zen, or 'Brilliant Sanity' in Tibetan tradition.
